The celebration of the 10th anniversary from the visit of the Holy Father John Paul II started on 4th of September with the Holy Mass in the Cathedral of Vilnius. In this place the first meeting of the Holy Father has been held 10 years before.

There were some other celebrations remembering the first visit of the Holy Father in Lithuania. The polish speaking community of the Catholic Church in Lithuania commemorated the visit of the Pope with some liturgical celebrations and cultural events.

After the visit and the support of the Holy Father in 1993 Vilnius Priests seminary was reopened and started to educate the new priests for the Church in Lithuania. On 5th of September the visit of the Holy Father and the 10th anniversary of Vilnius Priests seminary of Saint Joseph were commemorated with the special celebration. There were present Lithuanian government authorities, also the President of the State, Mr. Rolandas Paksas.

Some celebrations were held in other dioceses of Lithuania: in Kaunas, at the Hill of the Crosses, in Šiluva. The Holy Father 10 years ago visited all these places.

The main celebration of the 10th anniversary from the visit of the Holy Father in Lithuania was held on 14th of September in Šiluva. All the bishops of Lithuania celebrated the Holy Mass; it was transmitted by the National Television.
